This course is designed for individuals interested in developing and using counselling skills as part of their work role in a range of different sectors; or those who are looking to progress towards achieving accredited counsellor status. The course will focus on the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work and some of the approaches that underpin counselling skills; as well as the importance of personal-development.
The course is delivered over a series of linked sessions which will be structured around 5 main study blocks and will run Friday to Sunday.

Session 3: Friday 28th – Sunday 30th January 2022
Session 4: Friday 4th – Sunday 6th February 2022
Study Block 2:
Session 1: Friday 18th – Sunday 20th February 2022
Session 2: Friday 4th – Sunday 6th March 2022
Session 3: Friday 11th – Sunday 13th March 2022
Study Block 3:
Session 1: Friday 25th – Sunday 27th March 2022
Session 2: Friday 29th April – Sunday 1st May 2022
Study Block 4:
Session 1: Friday 6th – Sunday 8th May 2022
Session 2: Friday 13th – Sunday 15th May 2022
Study Block 5:
Session 1: Friday 27th – Sunday 29th May 2022
Session 2: Friday 10th – Sunday 12th June 2022
Session 3: Friday 17th – Sunday 19th June 2022
You must be able to attend every session in order to successfully complete this qualification.
Please note: This qualification does not qualify you to practice as a counsellor. However, it can support working in and progression into a number of employment roles including: support worker, mental health support worker, social work
You will need to have achieved English at GCSE grade 4 (C) or Functional Skills Level 2.
What could this course lead to?
This course is free to all eligible students aged 19 or over who have not previously gained a full level 3 qualification. We will assess if you are eligible when you apply.
If you already possess a level 3 qualification, you may consider covering the cost by applying for an Advanced Learner Loan (ALL) or arrange a payment plan with the college.
