This course is designed for individuals who are looking to progress to training that will enable them to become a qualified professional counsellor; or those looking to develop counselling skills to use in their area of work e.g. nurses, social workers etc. The course will enable students to develop a range of counselling skills that will be applicable to a range of contexts; as well as develop an understanding of at least one therapeutic model. underpin counselling skills; as well as the importance of self-development. This qualification does not qualify you to practice as a counsellor.
The course is delivered over a series of linked sessions which will be structured around 4 main study blocks. Please see below for dates and times of each session:
Study Block 1:
Session 1: Friday 13th - Sunday 15th May 2022
Session 2: Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd May 2022
Study Block 2:
Session 1: Friday 10th – Sunday 12th June 2022
Session 2: Friday 17th – Sunday 19th June 2022
Study Block 3:
Session 1: Friday 1st – Sunday 3rd July 2022
Session 1: Friday 8th – Sunday 10th July 2022
Study Block 4:
Session 1: Friday 22nd – Sunday 24th July 2022
Session 2: Friday 29th – Sunday 31st July 2022
Please note: you must be able to attend all of the sessions in order to successfully complete the course.
No formal qualifications are required to apply for this course. However, we do recommend you access one of our Level 2 Award courses before you access this course if you don't have a level 2 qualification or if have been out of education for some time.

What could this course lead to?
This course could enable you to progress onto a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Funding Support Statement:
This course is free to all eligible students aged 19 or over who have not previously gained a full level 3 qualification. We will assess if you are eligible when you apply.
If you already possess a level 3 qualification, you may consider covering the cost by applying for an Advanced Learner Loan (ALL) or arrange a payment plan with the college.
