Functional Skills qualifications are based around skills needed for everyday life and to enable students to develop the flexibility to problem solve and make decisions using these skills. On this course, you will learn about the number system, use of common measures, shape and space, and handling information and data at Level 1. The skills at this level form a platform to develop your skills towards Level 2 in maths.
How will this course be delivered?
This course will consist of four sessions of two days each. All sessions will be on a Monday and Tuesday.
As part of the application process, you will be required to complete a maths assessment. This will ensure we offer you the right level of course, helping you to achieve so that you can move on to the next level. You can also access this course if you already have a Functional Skills Maths Entry Level 3 qualification.
What could this course lead to?
At this stage you might move on to either Functional Skills Maths Level 2 or GCSE maths, depending upon your level of skills, and what the requirements are for your next step in either Further or Higher Education.
Funding Support Statement:
Functional skills and GCSE qualifications in English and Maths are free to anyone who doesn’t already have either a grade 4, or a Level 2, in the specific subject. This means, if you’re aged 19 or over, the government will fund your English and Maths studies until you achieve either of these grades whether you are in work or not.Need more Information?
