Functional Skills English (Level 2)

The Functional Skills qualifications are based around skills needed for everyday life and to enable students to have the flexibility to problem solve using these skills. On this course, you will learn Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening skills at the standards for Level 2 . The skills at this level form a platform for learners to develop skills for further academic study at Level 3 and above, and are also skills valued by employers.
How will this course be delivered?
This course consists of four sessions, each of two days. Each session will be on a Thursday and Friday.
As part of the application process you will be required to complete an English diagnostic assessment. This will ensure we offer you the right level of course, helping you to achieve so that you can move on to the next level. You can also access this course if you already have a Functional Skills English Level 1 course.
What could this course lead to?
Functional Skills Level 2 qualifications are now regularly accpeted in universities for Higher Education studies depending upon the degree, but will also be a requirement for many Level 3 study programmes.
Funding Support Statement:
Functional skills and GCSE qualifications in English and Maths are free to anyone who doesn’t already have either a grade 4, or a Level 2, in the specific subject. This means, if you’re aged 19 or over, the government will fund your English and Maths studies until you achieve either of these grades whether you are in work or not.
