An Introduction to Leadership

This course explores leadership and enterprise, to give you the skills and qualitied required to lead.
You will explore leadership and team skills, and how effective leaders and strong team members can contribute to the successful running of teams. This will include looking at past and present leaders including influential female leaders.
You will explore the skills that are required to become an effective team leader as either a voluntary or paid role within your community.
Using a range of activities you will:
- explore your personal development areas
- learn how to develop your personal and time management skills explore the theory of how to motivate people to achieve positive results
- develop a personal action plan for further learning and development
This course will support you to lead small teams.
You will also undertake a Level 1 Award in Investigating Enterprise Skills on this course. This qualification aims to help you investigate the characteristics of enterprising individuals, perform a personal skills audit on your enterprise skills and identify areas for personal development.
How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered on a residential basis, on campus. The course will include a blend of classroom based activities and some individual work alone.
Northern College starts where you are, building on your life skills and experience. You don’t need a formal qualification to begin your studies with us.
What could this course lead to?
This course is ideal for those looking to gain employment or to advance in their current role. To continue your journey, you may wish to consider progressing onto other higher level leadership courses.

You may be eligible to study for free if you are unemployed, on certain benefits, or earn £17,004 a year or less. We can confirm when you apply or contact our Student Support Services team to learn more.

Please note the fee displayed is for the tuition fee only. If you are staying overnight at the college and you are not eligible for residential funding, there will be an additional charge to cover bed, breakfast and evening meal.
