Do you need to develop your reading skills to understand different audiences for writing, and the different language and vocabulary to use?
On this course you will work on different types of text and learn how to recognise them as persuasive, instructive, descriptive or informative.
This useful course will also teach you a range of reading techniques which enables you to identify fact and opinion.
By the end of the course you will have developed the skills to help you work out a writer’s meaning from the language they use.
How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered on a residential basis, over two days and one night.The course will include a blend of classroom based activities and some individual study.
Northern College starts where you are, building on your life skills and experience. You don’t need a formal qualification to begin your studies with us.However, if this is your first course at Northern College, you will be contacted by our Student Services team to ensure the course is right for you.
What could this course lead to?
After this course, you might want to consider the Essential Skills: Writing for Purpose (Level 1) which is the same level.You could also progress on to a Level 1 Functional English qualification.
