Course Description:

The Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma in Policing would be appropriate for students wishing to move on to further study The Access to HE Diploma in Policing would be an appropriate course for students wishing to move on to further study at university. Progression courses could include: BA (Hons) Professional Policing; BA (Hons) Public Services or a BA (Hons) Criminal Justice. If you undertake a Diploma in Policing you will have the opportunity to study subjects such as:

  • The Powers of the Police
  • Theoretical Approaches to Crime
  • Psychology of Conformity and Aggression
  • Research Skills Project
  • The Court and Legal System
  • Values, Diversity and Inclusion

Funding support to pay for your studies

Students under 24 may be eligible to study for free if they do not already have a full level 3 qualification (equivalent of two A-levels).

 

Most students aged 24 and over cover the cost of our higher-level courses by applying for an Advanced Learner Loan. You may not need to pay the loan back if you take one of our Access to Higher Education programmes and go on to complete

Entry Requirements

Access to HE courses are designed for those who would like to progress to university but don’t have the qualifications required.  You will need to have achieved English at GCSE grade 4 (C) or Functional Skills Level 2.  For study areas that are largely dependent upon maths skills, GCSE grade 4 (C) or Functional Skills Level 2 may also be required.   

We can offer the opportunity to study either GCSE Maths or English alongside your Access to HE course for individuals that are ready and will discuss this with you during the Interview Day.

There is no upper age limit for this course as we believe everyone should have the chance to achieve their ambitions, but you do need to be 19+ to apply.
