This course is designed to explore the role of peer mentoring. You will explore what peer mentoring is, the role of a peer mentor and what skills are required. You will discover and practice active and positive communication skills, explore barriers to communication and develop a personal action plan to develop your skills. This course is for people wanting to understand more about mentoring and for people considering training to become a mentor.
This course provides professional development for new and existing volunteers and anyone in related community sector employment such as support workers.
How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered on a residential basis, over two days and one night.The course will include a blend of class room based activities and some individual work alone.
