This new course will support you to explore the skills that are required to become an effective team leader as either a voluntary or paid role within your community. Using a range of activities based in both the outdoor environment and the classroom, you will:
explore your personal development areas
learn how to develop your personal and time management skills explore the theory of how to motivate people to achieve positive results
develop a personal action plan for further learning and development.
This course will support you to lead small teams and provides professional development for new and existing volunteers and anyone in related community sector employment such as community development workers or youth workers.
How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered online by a tutor over one day.
Northern College starts where you are, building on your life skills and experience. You don’t need a formal qualification to enrol on this course, though ideally you should be working in a voluntary role.
What could this course lead to?
This course is beneficial for those who wish to progress on to further community development short courses. You could also consider courses to support the development of your English, maths and digital skills.
Further progression includes Level 2 Certificate in Developing Enterprise Skills, Level 2 Certificate in Community Organising and Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma courses. With further qualifications you could progress into Youth Work, Community Development, Sports Development or work within a charity.
