This course explores leadership and team skills, and how effective leaders and strong team members can contribute to the successful running of community groups.
You will explore the roles and responsibilities that are appropriate for community groups. This includes the characteristics and skills of both a leader and a team member.You’ll also learn how to work with community members ensuring you have the right person for the right job, how to motivate and enthuse people, as well as problem solving techniques.
There will be opportunity to spend time evaluating your skills and create an action plan to support your development as either an effective leader or team member.
How will the course be delivered?
The course will be delivered on a residential basis, over two days and one night.The course will include a blend of class room based activities and some individual work alone.
Northern College starts where you are, building on your life skills and experience. You don’t need a formal qualification to begin your studies with us.
What could this course lead to?
You can progress onto other community development and social action courses, for example Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Enterprise or Introduction to Community Activism course.
