Are you thinking about university but want to work on your skills before applying to an Access course? Then this course could set you on the right path.
If you need a bit more time to think about what you want to do at university, develop your study skills, English or Maths, or just develop your confidence while getting back into education, this could be the right course for you. You don’t need any qualifications to come on this course but you do need to be determined to challenge yourself and work hard for 9 months.
Successfully completing this course will give you the necessary skills and qualifications to progress on to a Level 3 Access to Higher Education (HE) course, which is the next step on the path to university!
Who is this course suitable for?
This course is aimed at adults who wish to return to education and progress on to a Level 3 Access to HE qualification. This course is the first step towards progressing onto university to undertake a social studies higher education course.
How will the course be delivered?
The course is delivered over 5 sessions Wednesday to Friday as follows:
Residential and non-residential places are available.
How is the course assessed?
You will study a number of units including: Psychology, Social Policy, Literature, Criminology and History; as well as additional units that will help you to develop your wider study skills. You will be assessed by a variety of methods which may include written assignments, research reports and presentations.
What could this course lead to?
Students who successfully complete the course will have the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to apply for a Level 3 Access to HE course and ultimately continue with their studies into Higher Education.
You will also get the opportunity to study Maths and English at Level 2 alongside your Diploma.
