The Access to Higher Education (HE) course at Northern College is a fast track to university that will give you the knowledge, skills and qualification you need to apply for university in just 9 months! You don’t necessarily need any prior qualifications to apply for this course and most of our students have been out of education for some time. What you do need is the determination to succeed and a willingness to work hard for 9 months.
Our Access to HE course is highly regarded by local and national universities and enables you to develop the skills you will require for university.
Access to HE courses are designed for those who would like to progress to university but don’t have the qualifications required. You will need to have achieved English at GCSE grade 4 (C) or Functional Skills Level 2. For study areas that are largely dependent upon maths skills, GCSE grade 4 (C) or Functional Skills Level 2 may also be required.
Successful applicants will be required to attend an interview day and some initial tasks which includes:

The purpose of these activities is to ensure that you are applying for the right course and will be able to cope with the demands of the course.
We can offer the opportunity to study either GCSE Maths or English alongside your Access to HE course for individuals that are ready and will discuss this with you during the Interview Day.
There is no upper age limit for this course as we believe everyone should have the chance to achieve their ambitions, but you do need to be 19+ to apply.
Is the course right for you?
